Introduction

The Liver Health Foundation (LHF), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to promoting liver health and raising awareness about liver-related diseases, proudly participated in the Triple Elimination Conference held at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

The conference brought together prominent national and international leaders, including H.E. Jesca Alupo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, Ministers of Health from several African nations, and representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), African Union (AU), World Health Organization (WHO), and the U.S. Embassy in Uganda.
It also featured participation from various civil society organizations, health advocates, and development partners, all uniting around the common goal of achieving Triple Elimination — Hepatitis B, HIV, and Syphilis.

Attendance

The Liver Health Foundation was ably represented by:

  • Dr. Mukuye Ashiraf, Secretary General

  • Mr. Julius Ssenyonga, Chairman of the Board

Both representatives actively contributed to key sessions and panel discussions focused on liver health, disease prevention, and integrated public health strategies. Their participation reinforced the Foundation’s growing influence in regional and national dialogues on liver health and its intersection with other infectious diseases.

Key Highlights

The conference served as a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, advocacy, and partnership building among health leaders and stakeholders.

1. Sharing Best Practices

Dr. Mukuye Ashiraf and Mr. Julius Ssenyonga shared insights from Liver Health Foundation’s community-driven programs across Uganda. They presented the Foundation’s initiatives in hepatitis prevention, vaccination campaigns, community education, and patient support, emphasizing evidence-based approaches that empower individuals and communities to take control of their liver health.

2. Networking and Collaboration

Throughout the conference, the Foundation’s delegation engaged with regional policymakers, researchers, and international organizations, discussing potential collaborations aimed at improving access to screening, treatment, and vaccination.
These engagements opened doors for new partnerships to strengthen integrated health systems and contribute to the 2030 global hepatitis elimination goals.

3. Advocacy for Integration and Policy Action

The discussions highlighted the importance of integrating hepatitis services within broader health programs such as HIV, maternal and child health, and primary healthcare. LHF advocated for increased investment and policy prioritization of liver health in Uganda’s national health agenda, aligning with the Africa Hepatitis Elimination Framework and global WHO strategies.

Conclusion

Liver Health Foundation’s participation in the Triple Elimination Conference underscores its unwavering commitment to advancing liver health and supporting national and regional efforts toward the elimination of Hepatitis B, HIV, and Syphilis.

The knowledge gained, partnerships established, and commitments reaffirmed during the conference will play a vital role in shaping the Foundation’s future programs and interventions.

As a recognized voice in liver health advocacy, LHF remains steadfast in its mission to:

  • Raise public awareness on liver-related diseases,

  • Promote prevention through education and vaccination, and

  • Strengthen access to care and support services for affected individuals.

Together with our partners, we continue to work toward a healthier Uganda and Africa — free from preventable liver diseases.
