About Us

Liver Health Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase awareness, prevention, improved care, and support for everyone affected by liver diseases and liver cancer. The foundation aims to reach a broader audience, advocating for early detection and better treatment of all types of liver diseases, including liver cancer.

LHF’s interventions focus on collaborating with local communities through integrated and community-driven solutions based on scientific evidence, innovation, creativity, and multidisciplinary partnerships concerning liver-related diseases.

LHF works with service providers, healthcare consumers, and key stakeholders to improve access and quality of viral liver disease services for all, without discrimination, through training, education, research, patient support, and advocacy. Our motto is strengthening liver health in Uganda.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce the burden of liver disease through comprehensive education, prevention, treatment, and support services. We are committed to raising awareness about liver health, providing resources for early detection and prevention, and advocating for better healthcare policies and practices.

We envision a future where liver diseases are significantly reduced, and individuals across Uganda and East Africa have access to the care and support they need for optimal liver health. Our vision drives us to work tirelessly towards a healthier, more informed community.

Our History:

Founded in 2007, Liver Health Foundation has grown into a leading organization dedicated to liver health in the region. Our journey began with a small group of passionate healthcare professionals and advocates who recognized the urgent need for focused efforts on liver disease prevention and treatment. Over the years, we have expanded our programs and initiatives, reaching thousands of individuals through our campaigns and support services.

Report on the Launch of the Food is Medicine Campaign

On 19th April 2025—World Liver Day—Liver Health Foundation successfully launched its Food is Medicine Campaign at Mosa Court Apartments in Rwenzori Hall, Kampala. This initiative marked a significant milestone in promoting liver health through nutritional awareness and healthy lifestyle choices. Dr. Moses Muwanga officiated the campaign on behalf of Hon. Hanifah Kawooya, Minister for General Health Duties, and was supported by senior officials, including SCP Dr. Nuwamanya Emmanuel, Deputy Director of Police Health Services.
