Report on the Kabaka Foundation Tubeere Balamu Health Camp

Liver Health Foundation participated in the Kabaka Foundation Tubeere Balamu Health Camp held on May 5 and 6, 2025, at Wankulukuku Stadium in Kyadondo County. This initiative aimed to promote health awareness and provide essential health services to the community, focusing on Hepatitis B vaccination, screening for fatty liver disease, and the "Food is Medicine" campaign.

Report on the Kabaka Foundation Tubeere Balamu Health Camp

Liver Health Foundation participated in the Kabaka Foundation Tubeere Balamu Health Camp held on May 5 and 6, 2025, at Wankulukuku Stadium in Kyadondo County. This initiative aimed to promote health awareness and provide essential health services to the community, focusing on Hepatitis B vaccination, screening for fatty liver disease, and the "Food is Medicine" campaign.

Objectives:

To vaccinate individuals against Hepatitis B.

To screen participants for fatty liver disease.

To promote the "Food is Medicine" campaign, emphasizing the importance of nutrition in maintaining liver health.

Key Guests:

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including:

- Prince David Wasajja

- Katikiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga

- Owek. Cotlder Nakatte Kikomeko, Buganda Royal Minister for Health, Education, and Nabagereka Affairs

- Attorney General of Buganda, Owek. Kiwanuka

- Nakawa MP, Hon. Balimwezo Ronald

- Various religious leaders

- Representatives from local schools

Health Services Provided:

During the two-day health camp, Liver Health Foundation successfully tested a total of 290 individuals for Hepatitis B and fatty liver disease. The results were as follows:

Hepatitis B Vaccination: All eligible participants were offered the Hepatitis B vaccine.

Screening Results:

  - Total tested: 290 individuals

  - Non-reactive cases (Hepatitis B): 280 individuals

  - Reactive cases (Hepatitis B): 10 individuals

  - Hepatitis C cases identified:

Community Impact:

The health camp provided a vital service to the community, raising awareness about liver health and the importance of vaccination. The high number of reactive Hepatitis B cases underscores the need for continued health education and vaccination efforts in the region. The "Food is Medicine" campaign also received positive feedback, with many participants expressing interest in learning more about nutrition and its impact on liver health.
